Hello old blog- nice to see you again! I’ve given myself the challenge to do a bit more writing here, starting with Christmas. I might have a little decorating problem…ok ….big problem. I LOVE to decorate for Christmas and this year it is ON. Also, this year is a bit more special to me because I hope to put this place on the market in the spring. I wanted to go out with a bang. So I’ve challenged myself to decorate twelve Christmas trees this year…. I at the present I’m up to 10. I have one more on my porch then I’ve gotta figure another small one out for my pink bedroom..
Today are going start with my main living area- the family room. Welcome in-COVID style, virtual and safe!

I chose the classic color combination of red and white this year. I wanted a fresh look, bright and clean. I also wanted to make the room feel magical for the grandkids and even my grown children. When they were growing up, it gave me so much joy to create a magical Christmas experience for them.

I tweaked my gallery wall to make it fit the room. I love creating a gallery wall for each season, and I have huge stash of thrifted finds for just that purpose. I added the red botanicals from a vintage reproduction botanical book. This is an easy, inexpensive way to add new art. Cards are also good- you’ll see that in my kitchen.
My man friend was sweet enough to build this huge chalkboard for me- I spent a Saturday morning creating this winter scene. I used plain white chalk and chalk pastels for this one. I originally thought that I would only use the white chalk but I needed dimension.
This is where the real magic happened.

I had planned to add a Santa, sleigh and reindeer going across the moon. Not sure I’ll do that now- it feels complete to me. But If I do and I don’t like it- all I have to do is wipe it away!

I love the crisp white with the deep reds.
I also have my beloved Santa mugs that I wasn’t using in my kitchen. I couldn’t bear not having them out so I decided to create a hot cocoa bar for the kids. I have cute candy and suckers for them to enjoy on Christmas morning. No- not the redhots in the snowman- those are as old as my kids!

These sweet faces give me all the Christmas feels. How can you not love a Santa mug??

Gotta throw a little vintage in wherever I can. I love mixing vintage and new.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little tour of my red and white family room. Let me know what you think! Come back to see the rest of the trees- remember there are twelve total!

Youโre amazing! I absolutely LOVE the red and white! Itโs beautiful! I miss you!โค๏ธ
