Rethinking the Office and a Bit of Welcome Change

Change is inevitable in each of our lives, mine has been rife with it these last few years and months. I remember studying about stressors in school and that changes, even good ones, bring stress into our lives.

In some ways I desperately need change. Living in the house that Sonny and I grew together is painful. The place is full of memories and for me that is not comforting. It is not that I want to erase all traces of him, it’s just that it seems to be easier to more forward with something different. I had no choice about some of the transitions in my life, death brought an 180 degree turn to my path. Others, I choose to take control of as best as I can.

I have been trying to figure out what to do in the way of my nursing career. Sonny and I talked about it at length before he died. We talked about my dreams to own a small farm and wedding venue. We talked about the possibility of my going back to school. The only thing constant for some time is the knowledge that I needed to do something other.I have been applying for all kinds of nursing jobs and was recently offered a job in my same hospital working in the newborn nursery. It is different for me, but still some of the same as I will be able to work with moms and babies and my coworkers both of which I love . The rest is just going to have to wait.

At home, I have changed my living room, bedroom and now getting ready to rethink my office. I (think) I will put my house on the market next year so I need to get it ready. There are many tasks I must rely on others to do but I am quite capable of designing and creating a new space with minimal carpentry skills. I have a few weeks before my transition to full time work so I am going to plow away at the list.

Yesterday my dear friend Mindy came and helped me clear the office. I wish I had a photo of the mess….You will just have to use your imagination. It had stuff from Sonny’s office, the funeral, dog hair, mountains of dust and everything else that I could dump inside. As we were clearing,  I thought there’s no time like the present so I took almost everything out and last night went to purchase paint.

Here is a peek of my inspiration and design ideas that I have for the room.

I am loving the copper and navy!

And here are a few pictures I snapped with my phone last night.

So without further ado, I’m off to start! I’ll try to remember to post pictures along the way on my Facebook page.
