Christmas in the (New) Kitchen

Hi friends! Can you believe it is only 12 days till Christmas? The time has passed by  quickly, especially since Thanksgiving was later than usual this year. I prefer an earlier Thanksgiving so there is more time to enjoy the Christmas season. It is time to buckle down and get a little Christmas baking done and I fully intend to get all my wrapping done before Christmas ( we shall see how that goes). What about you, are you a last minute wrapper or do you get it all done early?

Today I’d like to share one of my most favorite spaces to decorate for Christmas- my kitchen. You see before the world wide web, Pintrest and Instagram there were these magic things called books and magazines. I collected every issue for years of Martha Stewart, BHG, Southern Living, Country Living etc just to peruse the gorgeous photos. Martha Stewart taught me how to DIY some Christmas. I still have a couple of her books- they truly are timeless. We had very little money so I used candy. We made peppermint trees and put red candies in jars . I just told my kids not to eat them until after Christmas- How well did they listen? I’ll let you guess. Although I do have a snowman jar with red hots that is at least 16 years old..

This summer I renovated my kitchen- look for a post later with all the details. Plus there are a few things that are not finished.. The rest of this one will be dedicated to photos and few words. Enjoy!

And the view from the other side…

This little table is the very first table Sonny and I ever bought. It a wee bit crooked but I can’t get rid of it- sometimes the value of something is measured more in memories and sentiment.

Isn’t that a sweet cow- a gift from my oldest and his wife. I love a cow dressed up for Christmas!

Do you decorate in your kitchen? Let me know in the comments how you bring Christmas spirit to your kitchen!
